Калининград

Калининград means Kaliningrad in Russian. As you can see the city centre has completely disappeared. Found at http://www.kng750.kanet.ru/list221.htm.

  1. This town had been completely "coventrated" and rebuilt in a differnet way. The differences between the previous Königsberg and the present Kaliningrad is even deeper than Hiroshima.
I have observed with attention the previous map and the present one. I have discovered only 1 street in common: "Wagner Strasse" and "Ulitsa Vagnera". Probably Stalin liked the music of Wagner

Not a surprise, since he had been in agreement with Hitler in the beginning of the Second World War.

  2. The Sovjets treated the city in a bizarre way indeed. It's a challenge to look for signs of the old city in the present town.
