This town had been completely "coventrated" and rebuilt in a differnet way. The differences between the previous Königsberg and the present Kaliningrad is even deeper than Hiroshima.
ReplyDeleteI have observed with attention the previous map and the present one. I have discovered only 1 street in common: "Wagner Strasse" and "Ulitsa Vagnera". Probably Stalin liked the music of Wagner

Not a surprise, since he had been in agreement with Hitler in the beginning of the Second World War.

The Sovjets treated the city in a bizarre way indeed. It's a challenge to look for signs of the old city in the present town.
