Characteristics of a daguerreotype are:
- The pictures can not be reproduced and are therefore unique.
- The surfaces are extremely delicate, which is why they are housed under glass in a case.
- The image is reversed, the object seeing himself as he did when looking at a mirror.
- The images are difficult to view from certain angles.
Do you reverse the images when you scan them or do you leave them as original?
ReplyDeleteAnd any idea where this image came from or who these people are?
I just scan them, I don't reverse the images. And I've got no idea who these people are. It's part of the fascinating mystery. You can use your imagination and make up your own story about these mid 19th century people.
ReplyDeleteI think it's neat to look at old photos even when I don't know who they are. Do you know if this image is from Europe or America?
ReplyDeleteI buy them from people living in the US using Ebay, if the price and the image is interesting enough. So all my dags are American as far as I know.
