A bust at a wedding picture

Prince Edward and Princess Alexandra pose with Queen Victoria after their wedding (Getty Images / Hulton Archive, 1863).

The heir to the thrown Prince Edward married the Danish Princess Alexandra ('Alix') on March 10, 1863. Notice that the mother of the groom, Queen Victoria (sitting) is staring at a bust of her late husband Prince Albert (deceased in December 1861).

  1. Hmm. What a creepy wedding picture, your mother-in-law in black staring at a bust of her departed husband. I don't think my wife would have gone for one like that.

  2. It's a punishment; she was blaming her licentious son for the death of her husband...
