Portrait of Pieter (or Peeter) Stevens by Anthony van Dyck, 1627 (Mauritshuis, The Hague)
This is a portrait by the famous painter Antoon van Dyck of Pieter Stevens (1593-1658) painted in 1627. Anthony van Dyck is one of my favorite painters. In 1628 Pieter married Anna Wake, Anthony painted her portrait as well.

ReplyDeleteDankjewel!
DeleteI take it from the above comment that today is your birthday, Rob.
ReplyDeleteI hope you've had a good day and are having a fun night.
Thanks!
DeleteI so, so long to visit The Hague, Rob. These portraits are breath-taking. I really need to conquer my fear of flying before I'm any older.
ReplyDelete....And a HUGE Happy Birthday to you - what's left of it, anyhow!! lol
Thank you! And you can reach us by boat...
DeleteWonderful paintings, I can see why the artist is one of your favorites. He focused on details; I enlarged both paintings to have a closer look. Anna Wake's dress was beautiful for the time period. I like the black, silver & white color theme of her gown, she looked classy.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a very nice birthday!
